Planning
Intense planning begins in the ninth grade, as you start picking and choosing the courses that will lead you toward high school graduation. You want to choose courses that will prepare you for the career field that interests you. (For those of you who are still in the discovery and exploration mode, now is the time to make some choices.)
Keep in mind that many of today's career fields require college. Even if college is not required, adding a college certificate or degree to your resume certainly opens the door to a much larger world of opportunity. Taking college-preparatory courses in high school (by enrolling in either the Recommended Program or the Distinguished Achievement Program) puts you on the right path for both college and your future career.
