Beginning Your Journey

You're a high school senior or college freshman now; and, the time has come to fine tune your trip and start the journey. If you still have some questions or are undecided as to which road to take, visit with your counselor or academic advisor. If your high school, college, or community has a career information center or has job fairs for students, you might stop in for a visit. Additional opportunities to explore whether a career is right for you include part-time jobs, internships, and volunteer or community service work.

You may also wish to contact one of the many community based organizations whose mission it is to provide adults acess to economically self sufficient growth jobs through long term training (college) and support services (day care, transportation assistance, etc.). Providers in this category include: Capital IDEA, Inc., Project QUEST, and many others. Links to some of these CBO's can be found in the "Additional Resources" section. Look under "College Related Links."
